Welcoming Ordinances

At the local level, organizers and activists have successfully passed resolutions to inhibit local cooperation with federal immigration enforcement efforts. Here are three:
the ACLU Model Ordinance; the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), and the Popular Democracy, model ordinance.
Act:
Review these model ordinances and ask local leaders about whether there have already been discussions in your local community about passing such an ordinance.
Build:
Host a community discussion about what would make your community a safe and welcoming one, for everyone.
Organize:
Build a committee of community residents and a coalition of local organizations, businesses, and institutions to engage local elected officials in passing a strong version of this type of ordinance in your community.
